John J. Marini Sr., 83, of Raritan, NJ, passed away on Saturday, March 2, 2024 at RWJ Hospital in New Brunswick. Born in Somerville, John spent most of his life in Manville and Raritan.
John graduated from Somerville High School, Class of 1958. He then went on to graduate from Raritan Valley Community College where he received his Associates Degree.
John served our country in the Vietnam War from 1961 to 1964.
Shortly after, John started working for Raritan Borough Police Department. During his time with the Police force, John climbed through the ranks to become Captain. He spent 28 years in law enforcement before retiring in 2002.
John loved spending time with his son. For 12 years, John helped his son J.J. by being his pit crew chief at the race track and in the garage with his race car. He was an avid Giants and Yankees fan and had a huge love for animals especially his grandpup, Bubba. Most importantly, John loved taking care of the ones he loved including his late wife, Leocadia.
He is preceded in death by his beloved parents, Jennie and Joseph Marini, his wife, Leocadia Marini (2021), and his sister, Marie Richardson.
Surviving are his dear son, John J. Jr., and wife Kelly Marini of Manville, NJ.
A viewing will be held on Wednesday, March 6, 2024 from 3-7pm at the Branchburg Funeral Home, 910 Rt. 202 South, Branchburg, NJ, 08876.
A prayer service will begin at the funeral home on Thursday, March 7, 2024 at 10:15am. Funeral mass to follow at St. Ann's R.C. Church at 11am. Burial will be held at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Hillsborough, NJ.
