John Vincent Magazino, Sr. Raritan, NJ John Vincent Magazino, 85, passed away on Monday August 11, 2014. Born in Bronx NY, where he resided in the Throg's Neck section most of his life until moving to Raritan a few months ago. John honored our country by serving in the U.S.Navy from 1946 to 1948. He was a sanitation worker and worked for the Department of sanitation in NYC for 20 years before retiring in 1988. John spent many years coaching the Throg's Neck Little League. He was looked upon as a grandfather to many neighborhood families and friends. His nickname was "Papa John". He was also a writer of Poetry. He loved deer-hunting and visiting Atlantic City. John volunteered at the Providence Rest Nursing Home for over 20 years. He was also a member and a past president of the AM Vets. John was predeceased in death by his loving parents, Peter Magazino and Emma Dauria, four brothers and four sisters. Surviving is his loving son, John J. Magazino and wife Carol of Pompton Plains; and his wonderful daughter, Madelene Magazino and her husband John Lurker of Raritan NJ; his beloved brother, Frank Magazino of Whitestone, Queens NY; his three cherished grandchildren, John, Cassandra and Derek. A viewing will be held on Thursday , August 14, 2014, from 4:00 to 8:00 pm at Branchburg Funeral Home, 910 US Highway 202 South, Branchburg, NJ 08876, (908) 526-7638. Prayers will begin at 10 am on Friday August 15, 2014 at the funeral home. Interment will follow in St. Raymond's Cemetery, Bronx, NY.
