Obituary

John Michael Havay

John M. Havay, 68, of Bloomsbury, NJ, passed away on Monday. August 31, 2026. Born in Somerville, NJ, John resided in Bloomsbury for 25 years.

A master electrician and natural problem-solver, John founded Havay Electrical Contracting in 1987. He later led facilities operations and maintenance at Koh-I-Noor and Medarex, where he oversaw employees, building operations, maintenance and capital projects. He brought the same skill, reliability and practical intelligence to his later work in construction project management with Bancroft Construction Company where they called him “Dr. John” as there wasn’t a problem he could not solve.

Family was the center of John’s world. He cherished every moment spent surrounded by those he loved and never missed the opportunity to gather with family. His grandson Kane became the light in his world over the last couple of years. In those last few years, they became best buds while living together including doing homework, enjoying sports, and helping each other out every day. John cherished every second he spent with his grandson. John’s presence brought warmth and togetherness to every family gathering.

Alongside his love and devotion for his family, John found joy in being involved in his son’s baseball team, serving as their coach for several years. Some of the happiest moments in John’s life were spent traveling with the baseball teams and golf trips.

He is preceded in death by his beloved parents, Frances and John Havay, and his brother, Anthony Havay.

Surviving are his dear son, John Havay, his loving daughter, Chelsea Havay and their mother, Christine Havay, his brother, Michael and wife Janice Havay, and his three sisters, Angela Havay, Mary Amato and her late husband, Steve, Ann Havay and brother in law Eric Gosch, his sister in law, Karen Havay, his nephews, Anthony Havay and his wife Rachel Havay, Lucas Havay, Andrew Amato, Michael Havay, Anthony James Havay, his niece, Kellianne Havay, and one adored grandson, Kane.

A viewing will take place on Friday, September 4, 2026 from 3pm-7pm at the Branchburg Funeral Home, 910 Rt. 202 South, Branchburg, NJ, 08876 with a prayer service beginning at 6:15pm. Committal is private.
