Joan R. Clarkson Branchburg, NJ Joan Clarkson, 77, of Branchburg, NJ, passed away on Saturday, March 12, 2022 at RWJ Somerset. Born in Philadelphia, PA, Joan grew up in Dunellen, spent 7 years in North Plainfield before moving to Branchburg 47 years ago. Joan worked for the Somerset County Freeholders as an Executive Assistant for 22 years before retiring. Joan was also a member of the Branchburg Republican Municipal Committee for many years. She enjoyed playing board games with her children, baking, sewing, interior decorating and playing Bridge. She loved to spend time at her beloved beach home on Long Beach Island, visiting Disney World, and going on cruises. The one thing Joan enjoyed the most was spending quality time with her family especially her grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her beloved parents, Helen and Joseph Rutkiewicz. Surviving are her husband of 56 years, Bill Clarkson, her dear son Gerald Clarkson of Branchburg, NJ; two loving daughters, Christine and husband Anthony Confortini of Califon, NJ; Cindy and husband Craig Rock of White Township, NJ; a brother John Rutkiewicz of Center Valley, PA; and six cherished grandchildren, Ryleigh, Brooke, Skyler, Tanner, Jake and Avery. Memorial contributions may be made in Joan's memory to the Ovarian Cancer Research. A celebration of life will be held on Tuesday, March 22, 2022 from 5-7pm at the Branchburg Funeral Home 910 Rt. 202 South Branchburg, NJ 08876. Committal is private.
