Jean Marie Squeri 10/25/1934 – 1/11/2022 Jean was born Jean Marie Carter in New York City and was the only child of Edward and Mitzi Carter (Boudiny). She was always very proud of her father who was a Captain in the US Merchant Marines and served in WWII, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War. She grew up living primarily with her mother in Long Island City where she eventually attended Long Island City High School and met her future husband, Paul Squeri. They were high school sweethearts and were married on 8/28/1955 at the age of 20 shortly after they graduated high school. Jean and Paul were devoted to each other for over 67 years They had their first of three boys, Ron, in 1956. Jean spent time working as a bookkeeper at Gravy Master before relocating to East Northport, NY (Long Island) where they had their second child, Greg, in 1964 and their third son, Alan, in 1965. In 2002 she moved to Waretown, New Jersey to be closer to their two beloved grandchildren Cassandra and Samantha. For the last four and a half years they lived in New Providence, NJ with their son Alan and his wife Doreen. Jean passed away at home in the loving company of her entire family. Jean is survived by her husband Paul, sons Ron, Greg, and Alan, their spouses Michael, Sharon, and Doreen along with her grandchildren Cassandra and Samantha. Jean was an avid bowler and was the secretary of several leagues at Larkfield Lanes in East Northport. She worked at the leagues in order to cover the costs of bowling for the entire family and it was an activity her family enjoyed together for many years. Jean had magic in her fingers when it came to knitting, sewing, crocheting, crafting, and quilting. She built many friendships through these activities over the years in both New York and New Jersey. A favorite trip of hers was a long weekend in the Amish Country in PA with all of her "quilting ladies". She could be seen selling her beautiful creations at many a craft fair. Over the years she created and donated much of her craftwork to hospitals, needy families, friends, and family members. There are countless creations of Jean's in hundreds of homes, many of people she did not even know. Jean was also a proud member of Daughters of the American Revolution. Jean loved her sons and her grandchildren deeply and attended as many sporting events and activities as possible, rarely missing Ron's skating competitions, plays, or singing events, Greg's baseball or football games, or Alan's football, basketball or baseball games. She was always their #1 fan and they knew it and loved her for it. When it came to her grandchildren no grandmother could have been more supportive, caring, or involved. She attended many high school plays, basketball and softball games, marching band competitions, among other activities. Some of her most fond memories were attending a football game at Notre Dame and seeing Samantha in the marching band, attending Cassandra's Spring Softball games in Florida for Stonehill College, and taking a trip with her entire family to Disney World for her 50th wedding anniversary. Most importantly she provided a great role model for Cassandra and Samantha as to how to live a good honest life and be a strong woman. We will always be grateful for the time she invested in her entire family. She was a beautiful person and lived an incredibly fulfilling life. We are heartbroken and will miss her deeply, but she will always be with us. We thank God for allowing us to have her with us for so long.
