Janet G. Quigney Friel , 58, passed away Saturday, August 14, 2010 at Overlook Hospital in Summit, with her family at her side. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y. she resided in Branchburg before moving to Raritan several years ago. Mrs. Friel was a Controller with AT&T in Basking Ridge for 30 years before becoming a Project Manager with Telcordia Technologies in Piscataway ten years ago. She was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America and took great pride in making a difference through the charity work she had done. Janet was thought of as the greatest Mom to ever walk the face of the earth, and was considered a "Mom" to many. She enjoyed spending quality time with her friends, especially her family, creating many cherished memories. Janet was preceded in death by her parents James and Janet Habib Quigney. Surviving are her devoted husband of 39 years, Frank Friel; her loving son, Frankie Friel of Raritan; her cherished sisters, Jacqueline Florio and husband, Anthony of Secaucus, Janine Canepa of Allentown, PA and Jodi Kenny and husband, John of Staten Island, NY; her dear brother, James Quigney and wife, Laurie of Brooklyn, NY; and many beloved nieces and nephews. Funeral services will begin Thursday, August 19, 2010 with a prayer at 9:15 AM at Branchburg Funeral Home, 910 US Highway 202 South, Branchburg, NJ 08876 (908) 526-7638 followed by a 10:00AM Funeral Liturgy at St. Bernard R.C. Church, 500 Rt. 22 East, Bridgewater. Viewing will be Tuesday August 17th from 7:00 to 9:00pm and Wednesday August 18th from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00PM at the funeral home.
