James McDaid, 65, of Bridgewater, NJ, passed away on Tuesday, July 7, 2020 surrounded by his family. James was a loving father and beloved Chiropractor whose thirty-year practice improved the lives of countless patients in New Jersey. James was born in Brooklyn, NY, the oldest of five: his sister Maureen was his Irish Twin and he was a role model to his three younger brothers, Kevin, Brian and Keith. James attended Franklin High School where he ran Varsity track occasionally but mostly hid out and played tennis with his friends. After graduating in 1972, James went on to study at Farleigh Dickenson University where he balanced a life as a Resident Advisor for students and flower child of the Hippie revolution. James looked like a long lost Alman Brother and one of his proudest moments from that time was when he lived up to the Ramblin' Man spirit and hitchhiked across the continental United States, making his way from New Jersey to California, riding on the kindness of strangers. After graduating college, James began to pursue his lifelong passion of helping others by living and working at the Matheny School, a special hospital and school for children and adults with medically complex developmental disabilities. It was through helping others and fixing lives with his hands that James found his higher calling of a vocation in medicine. It was also at Matheny where he met the love of his life, Elizabeth D'Aniello. James and Elizabeth were married in 1980 before moving to Chicago where he studied at the National College of Chiropractic, IL. After receiving his DC, James and Elizabeth returned to New Jersey where they raised a beautiful family of two children, Ryan and Brianna, and many generations of standard poodles. In his free time, James loved gardening, collecting Napa Valley's finest wine, sharing it with loved ones, and listening to Joni Mitchell. James built his Chiropractic practice from the ground up, gaining a reputation for excellence that extended far beyond the discipline and into all halls of medicine. In 2000, James became one of the first Chiropractors to work hand in hand with clinical doctors. He joined the esteemed ranks of the Summit Medical Group, helping to found the discipline. He continued to work and mentor others until his untimely passing. James was taken too soon from his world but the lessons he leaves behind are ones of integrity, helping others and staying true to your word. James leaves everyone with his favorite saying and timeless wisdom, "In all of your successes in life make sure to look back and bring others forward with you." He will be dearly missed by everyone he touched. A private memorial service for immediate family will be held on Friday, July 10, 2020. A larger celebration will be held when quarantine ends.
