James Henry Martin, 71, of Bridgewater, NJ, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 18, 2018 at Robert Wood Johnson Hospital New Brunswick. Born and raised in Bronx, NY he has been a resident of Bridgewater for the last 31 years.
Jim was a member of the United States Army from 1966-1968 before being honorably discharged.
He worked for AT&T in NY and Berkeley Heights, NJ as a Project Manager for over 35 years before his retirement in 2001.
Jim was a life member of the American Legion Post 1024, Commander of the Forty & Eight Club in Bronx, NY; was a Boy & Cub Scout Leader, Treasurer of the Bridgewater Senior Club, and member of the Bridgewater Senior Citizens Center.
Jim loved building things around the house, traveling to Aruba every year, spending summers at his lake house in Lake Hopatcong, and was a huge Jeopardy fan. He enjoyed spending quality time with his family especially his grandchildren, who called him Buddy. He adored his grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his beloved parents, Margaret Ayers and Thomas Martin, and his brother, Tommy.
Surviving are his beloved wife of 51 years, Helena Chang Leung Martin; his dear son, Eric and wife Holly of Marlton, NJ; two loving daughters, Melissa and husband Andy Stasienko of Bridgewater, NJ, and Melanie and husband Izzy Cruz of Hillsborough, NJ; his wonderful sister, Peggy Caraccio of Bronx, NY; six cherished grandchildren, Kyle, Erica, Rachel, Jenna, Josh, and Izabella; and many adored nieces and nephews.
Viewing will be held Wednesday, February 21, 2018 from 4-8pm at the Branchburg Funeral Home 910 US Highway 202 South, Branchburg, NJ 08876.
Funeral services will start with a prayer at 9:15am at the funeral home on Thursday, February 22, 2018 followed by a 10:00am funeral liturgy at Holy Trinity R.C Church in Bridgewater.
Committal is private.
