James D. Kenely, 91, of Branchburg, NJ passed away on Sunday, January 5, 2025 at his home. Born and raised in Elizabeth, NJ, Jim resided in Colonia for ten years before settling in Branchburg, NJ in 1966.
Jim graduated from St. Mary's High School, Class of 1951. He then went on to continue his education at the Academy of Aeronautics at LaGuardia Field.
Shortly after, Jim served our Country during the Korean Conflict from April 6, 1954 – March 23, 1956. After serving his time, Jim began working for TWA as an Aircraft Maintenance Supervisor for 38 years before his retirement in 1990.
During his free time, you could often find Jim in his workshop, fixing whatever needed to be repaired. He was a man of many talents, even created an ice rink and a miniature golf course in his backyard. Jim had a passion for exploring his family's history through genealogy research. He cherished spending time with his family, frequently gathering for card and dice games, accompanied by the sounds of oldies and country music. One of his favorite annual traditions was attending Oktoberfest celebrations, where he could enjoy good food, great company, and a lively atmosphere.
Jim loved to travel and took advantage of working at TWA where he was able to travel with his family to Ireland, Greece, Egypt, France, Germany, Austria, Italy, and England to name a few.
His beloved parents, Anna and William C. Kenely, Sr., his cherished wife, Gloria Kenely, his infant daughter, Mary Kenely, his brother, William C. Kenely, Jr.,; and his sister, Patricia Hoehler precede him in death.
Surviving are his dear son, Daniel Kenely of Charelston, SC ; six loving daughters, Donna Gabinelli of Whitehouse Station, NJ; Darlene Morrison of Branchburg, NJ; Susan and husband Dennis Byerly of Maricopa, AZ; Karen Kenely of Branchburg, NJ; Laurie and husband Walter Malley of Raritan, NJ; Beverly and husband Tony DeVergillo of Bedminster, NJ; twelve cherished grandchildren, and five beloved great grandchildren.
A viewing will be held on Thursday, January 9, 2025 from 4pm to 7pm at the Branchburg Funeral Home, 910 Rt. 202 South, Branchburg, NJ 08876.
A prayer service will begin at the funeral home on Friday, January 10, 2025 at 9:15am. Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 10am at Holy Trinity Church in Bridgewater, NJ. Committal is private.
