John J. Williams, Sr.

Asbury, NJ

John J. Williams, Sr. 98, of Asbury, NJ, passed away on Sunday, November 10, 2024, at Bridgeway Care in Bridgewater, NJ.

"Jack" was one of the Greatest Generation and enlisted in the Navy in September 1943 when he was only 17 years old. He served as a Torpedoman 2nd Class aboard the USS Lionfish in World War II.

After his honorable discharge in 1946, Jack completed his education and became Rahway's City Clerk. Sometime later he began working as a purchasing agent for General American Transportation Corporation (GATX) in Carteret, NJ and retired after a long career as their Purchasing Manager.

Jack was active in the Submarine Veterans of WWII Association. He also supported his beloved Lionfish which became a museum in Fall River, Massachusetts.

An avid fisherman, Jack enjoyed spending time outdoors. He was also an accomplished water-color artist and enjoyed teaching art classes. Jack cherished the time he spent with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his beloved parents, Anna and Vincent Williams, and his wife, Mary Joan Olsen Williams.

Surviving are his two dear sons, John J. Williams Jr. and wife Kathy, Vincent and wife Flora Williams, three loving daughters, Maryanne and husband Philip Luccarelli, Ginny and husband Mick Kaminski, Eileen and husband Joseph Wysocki, 12 cherished grandchildren, John, Eric, Edward, Lori, Domenick, Amanda, Kristie, Jennifer, Michael, Joseph, Thomas, Kenneth and 21 great grandchildren, Matthew, Owen. Cara, Malia, Greyson, Lila, Eli, Nolan, Emmie, Grant, Sierra, Mason, Aaron, Shane, Amelia, Connor, Carlie, Macie, McKenna, Colin, Evan, and #22 on the way!

A viewing will be held on Friday, November 15, 2024 from 9am-10am at the Branchburg Funeral Home, 910 Rt. 202 South, Branchburg, NJ 08876.

A prayer service will begin at the funeral home at approximately 10:00 am.

Funeral mass to follow at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church at 10:30 am. Committal is private.
