John H. Hamilton, Jr., 56, of Branchburg, NJ, passed away on Friday, December 30, 2022 at Overlook Hospital.
Jack grew up in Kenilworth, playing football for and graduating from David Brearly High School. At age six he lived for a time on Kwajalein Island in the western Pacific when his father, a communications engineer for AT&T, was stationed there.
Jack was a Lead Medical Dispatcher at CenCom at Overlook Medical Center for ten years until its closing in 2012, and took particular pride in being an air medical dispatcher. After CenCom closed he was hired at Union County Regional Communications where he was instrumental in transitioning fire and EMS agencies from CenCom to the newly opened County communications center. He was promoted to Supervising Public Safety Telecommunicator for B Platoon (Days), and was a dispatcher and training officer in all three disciplines (Police, Fire and EMS).
Prior to working at CenCom he studied Information Technology and was a Desktop Support Specialist for Transnet Corporation. From 1991 to 2005 he also worked as an EMT for the NJ Sports and Exposition Authority at the Meadowlands and Liberty State Park. He was a life member of the Kenilworth Fire Department, and a member of the Knights of Columbus 4th Degree and past Grand Knight of the Kenilworth Knights of Columbus Council #4186.
Jack was a devoted fan of the US Navy's Blue Angels, Giants, NASCAR, Rangers, and Yankees fan. He had a passion for military air shows, traveling to Florida, visiting historical sites on weekends and taking trips to various destinations. For the last eighteen years Jack and his wife Beth haves resided in Branchburg, New Jersey. The one thing John enjoyed the most was spending quality time with his family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his beloved parents Judy and John H. Hamilton, Sr.
Surviving are his loving wife of 18 years, Elizabeth Hesterfer Hamilton, his sister, Donna and husband Tom Stevens of Las Vegas, NV; and many loving nieces and nephews.
A viewing will be held on Thursday, January 5, 2023 from 4 to 8 at the Branchburg Funeral Home 910 Rt. 202 South, Branchburg, NJ 08876.
A prayer service will begin at the funeral home on Friday, January 6, 2023 at 9:15am. Mass will take place at St. Bernard R.C. Church at 10am. Committal is private.
