Herbert Brown Fischer

Herbert B. Fischer, 90, of Bridgewater, NJ, passed away on Sunday, April 7, 2024 at New Jersey Eastern Star Nursing Home. Born in Morristown, NJ, Herb resided in Whitehouse Station for 55 years before moving to Bridgewater 6 years ago.

Herb graduated from Millburn High School and briefly attended Cornell University. He worked for Bell Labs / AT&T as a programmer for many years before his retirement in 1989.

Herb was an avid car enthusiast and enjoyed racing cars in the 1940s and 1950s. He loved watching NASCAR and the Daytona 500. After he retired from Bell Labs, Herb worked with his friend Pete Terp who owned and operated a car parts store. Not only did he have a love for cars, Herbert had a love for animals, especially cats.

He was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Katharine and Herbert Berthold Fischer, and his brother, Frederick C. Fischer.

Surviving are his loving sister in law, Faith Heisler of Edison, NJ; a niece, Suzanne Fischer and her husband Jim Ullman of North Carolina; a nephew, Christopher and his wife Lori Fischer of Florida, and seven grandnieces and grandnephews: Amanda, Jordan, Julia, Austin and his wife Paige, Alissa, Noah, and Luke.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, April 21, 2024 from 11am-12pm at the Branchburg Funeral Home, 910 Rt. 202 South, Branchburg, NJ, 08876. A short prayer service will begin at the funeral home at 12pm.

Committal is private.
