Hector Cesar Brea, 75, of Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, passed away on Saturday, March 4, 2023 at RWJ Hospital in New Brunswick. Born in Valverde Mao, Dominican Republic, Hector lived all of his life in the DR, but the last 2 years was visiting NJ more frequently.
Hector was a graduate of Universidad Zamorano in Honduras, where he received his Bachelor's Degree in Agricultural Engineering. After graduating, Hector worked for Falconbridge Dominicana for 30 years as a Chemical Lab tech and supervisor, before retiring in 2000.
Hector was a member of Club Activo 20-30, Marriage Encounter, President and Secretary of the Zamorano Alumni Foundation Board for many years, and a member of the Rotary Club of Bonao, and was also a member of the Falcondo Club. Mr. Brea also served on his children's School Board for a few years.
Mr. Brea enjoyed playing tennis in his youth and he also served in the Tennis Committee of Falcondo Club. He was an avid reader, loved listening to music, walking in the park, bike riding, and being outdoors and in contact with nature, especially the mountains and the ocean. As a devout Catholic, he had a deep faith in God, which he practiced always lending a helping hand to those in need. Hector loved spending quality time with his family, especially his grandchildren, who were the light of his life.
He is preceded in death by his beloved parents Pura Tio and Hector Brea Acosta.
Surviving are his loving wife for 49 years, Ercilia (Noris) Herrera de Brea, two dear sons, Cesar Abel and wife Nerimel Brea of Branchburg, NJ; Hector Paul and partner Laura Mena of Santo Domingo, DR; one loving daughter, Penelope Brea of Santo Domingo, DR; four brothers, Eduardo and wife Rosa Brea of Santiago, DR; Ricardo Brea of Santo Domingo, DR; Hector Bienvenido and wife Raquel Brea of Mao, DR; Hector Juan and wife Cristina Brea of Edison, NJ; one sister, Vielka and husband Rafael Caonabo Castro of Santo Domingo, DR; five cherished grandchildren, Enya, Daniel, Ariana, Paul Sebastian, and Diogo, and many loving nieces and nephews.
A viewing will be held on Thursday, March 9, 2023 from 4-8pm at the Branchburg Funeral Home 910 Rt. 202 South, Branchburg, NJ 08876. A prayer service will begin at the funeral home at 7:30pm.
