Hao-Jan Ma, of Bridgewater, New Jersey passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 17, 2020 at the age of 96. Born in China, Hao-Jan immigrated to Taiwan in 1948, where he lived for 41 years. He was a hardworking father of seven who held multiple occupations throughout his lifetime. He served in the Taiwan Navy for a number of years, then became an entrepreneur and opened a local grocery store. He was a mechanic in the boom of the shipbuilding industry. Not only was he a successful mechanic, but also an esteemed mechanical engineering professor at National Taiwan Ocean University for 25 years.
After Hao-Jan retired, he immigrated to the United States in 1990 where he lived for the remainder of his life. He enjoyed the simple things in life like going for walks with his wife, caring for his grandchildren, eating chocolate, and drinking bubble tea and coffee. He was a firm Christian believer, an active member, and beloved brother of Rutgers Community Christian Church.
He is preceded in death by his beloved parents Ma Fu-Te and Chou Su-Chin, and three sons: Ma Chung-Yi, Qi Wu-Dong, and Ma Chung-Qiang.
Mr. Ma is survived by his loving wife of 63 years Hsiu-Lan Ma; his three sons: Ma Chung-Fang of Australia, Ma Chung-Hwa of Australia, and Ma Chung-Jie of Australia; one loving daughter Ma Chung-Shin of Bridgewater, NJ; 18 adored grandchildren and 8 cherished great grandchildren.
A viewing will be held on Saturday, June 20, 2020 from 9-11 am at the Branchburg Funeral Home 910 Rt. 202 South Branchburg, NJ.
Entombment will follow at Somerset Hills Memorial Park in Basking Ridge, NJ.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his memory to Rutgers Community Christian Church.
