Obituary

Gloria V. Hurley Retired Head Guidance Counselor Warren Gloria V. Hurley, 81 died Sunday March 21, 2004 at the Chelsea Assisted Living in Warren. Born in Weehawken, she resided there most of her life, living in Mattituck, L.I. for 15 years before moving to Warren 18 months ago. Mrs. Hurley was employed by the Weehawken Board of Education for 35 years in the Guidance Department, retiring in 1989 as the Head Guidance Counselor. Gloria was a member of the Weehawken Benevolent Guild, Fatima Guild of Sacred Heart Church in Cutchogue, L.I., North Hudson Women's Club, a volunteer at the Northfork Outreach in Cutchogue and a member of Literacy Volunteers. She was an avid reader who also enjoyed cooking and traveling. Mrs. Hurley was predeceased by her husband of 31 years, John Hurley in 1979 and her brother Norman Wynne in 2003. Surviving are her dear son John Hurley and daughter-in-law Maureen of Bridgewater, her grandson Patrick Hurley of Bridgewater, her sister Audrey Morris of Basking Ridge and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will begin 8:45 a.m. Thursday from the Branchburg Funeral Home, 910 U.S. Highway 202 South, Branchburg; followed by a 9:30 a.m. funeral liturgy at St. Bernard's R.C. Church, 500 U.S. Highway 22 East, Bridgewater. Interment will be in Madonna Cemetery FT. Lee, NJ. Visitation hours are Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
