Glenn Gilbert, 81, of Lakewood, NJ, passed away on Tuesday, April 14, 2026. Born in Jersey City, NJ, Glenn resided in Wallington, NJ before moving to Lakewood, NJ.

After graduating Dickinson High School in Jersey City, Glenn started working as a Police Officer, with a career spanning 25 years with the Jersey City Police Department, retiring as a lieutenant in 1992. Glenn, while working, attended Montclair State University finally receiving his BS in Geo, Urban and Environmental Studies.

Once retired, Glenn became an avid traveler. Traveling all over the world including China, India and Africa. He enjoyed spending time in his second home in Florida, and also playing racquetball at Kings Court Health club in Lyndhurst, of which he was a founding member. He was an amazing player and well known in the club as being very kind and generous.

He is preceded in death by his beloved parents, Emily and Thomas Gilbert, two brothers, Thomas and Bruce Gilbert and nephew Christopher Gilbert.

Surviving are his three nephews, John and wife Claudia Gilbert of Branchburg, NJ; Thomas Gilbert of Maine; Michael Gilbert of Tennessee and four grand nephews Christopher, Nicole, Matthew and Abigail.

The family will be having a celebration of life in the coming months with Glenn's close friends and family members.
