Gertrude Spinelli, 82, of Martinsville, NJ, passed away on Saturday, November 20, 221 at RWJ in New Brunswick. Born in Raritan, NJ, Gertrude resided in Raritan for most of her younger life before moving to Martinsville 57 years ago. Gertrude graduated from Somerville High School, Class of 1957. After graduating, she went on to receive her Bachelors of Science Degree at Douglas College. She worked as a High School Biology Teacher for Franklin Township Schools for 8 years before retiring in 1967. Gertrude was very active in her church having taught CCD when her children were young. She played Tennis and Golf, and enjoyed Water Skiing and card playing, especially Bridge. Gertrude loved to knit, travel, and visit her children, and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She loved travelling with her grandchildren and took them throughout Europe and to Hawaii. She was also very generous with many charities. She is preceded in death by her beloved parents, Anna and Joseph Suk, her loving husband, Martin J. Spinelli Jr., (2000), two sisters, Teresa Chiselko and Eleanor Stimpson, and her daughter-in-law Sasha Roberts. Surviving are her four dear sons, Martin J. Spinelli III of Sussex, England; Anthony J. and wife Terri Spinelli of Seattle, WA; Paul Spinelli and wife Tonya Brewer of Winston Salem, NC; Glenn Spinelli and wife Sue Bilek of Albuquerque, NM; and seven cherished grandchildren, Kayla, Kellie, Jordan, Lio, Kirsten, Siena, and Reed, and many loving nieces and nephews. A viewing will be held on Monday, November 22, 2021 from 4-8pm at the Branchburg Funeral Home 910 Rt 202 South Branchburg, NJ 08876. A prayer service will begin at the funeral home on November 23, 2021 at 9:15am. A funeral mass will follow at Blessed Sacrament Church at 10am; all welcome. Committal is private. .
