Gertrude "Gertie" D. Gaughan Raritan, NJ Gertrude "Gertie" D. Gaughan, 81, of Raritan, NJ, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 20, 2020 at Robert Wood Johnson Hospital Somerville. She was born and raised in Ashley, PA before moving to Raritan, NJ 50 years ago. Gertie was a graduate of St. Leo's High School and a college graduate of St. Mary's Nursing School where she received her Registered Nurse Degree. Gertie worked for Robert Wood Johnson Hospital Somerville "formally known as Somerset Medical Center" for over 37 years and received the Nurse of the Year award and was extremely proud of that. Gertie was an avid Yankees fan, loved doing crossword puzzles, cooking, watching the Hallmark channel, taking trips to Atlantic City, the Jersey Shore, Florida, South Carolina, and Europe, attending her granddaughters soft ball games, but most importantly spending quality time with her family especially her grandchildren. She will be missed tremendously by all who knew and loved her. Gertie is preceded in death by her beloved parents, Gertrude and Thomas Lehman, her beloved husband of 40 years, Donald A (1996); and her four sisters, Pat Scanlon, Dolores Magliton, Ruth Helfrich, and Tessie McGowan. Surviving are her three loving sons, Anthony "Tony" of Raritan, NJ, Donald "Donnie" and his girlfriend Heidi Flint of Easton, PA, and Daniel "Dan" and his wife Cathy of Bridgewater, NJ; her wonderful sister, Cookie of PA; and four cherished grandchildren, Gina, Ryan, Meghan, and Gabrielle "Dolly" Viewing will be held on Thursday, January 22, 2020 from 4-8pm at the Branchburg Funeral Home 910 US Highway 202 South, Branchburg, NJ 08876. Funeral services will start with a prayer at 9:30am the funeral home on Friday, January 23, 2020 followed by a 10:30am funeral liturgy at St. Bernard R.C. Church in Bridgewater. Burial will follow at St. Bernard Cemetery in Bridgewater. Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to Steeplechase Cancer Center, 110 Rehill Ave, Somerville, NJ 08876.
