Gertrude "Trudy" Bratek Bluffton, SC Gertrude "Trudy" Bratek, 81, of Bluffton, SC, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 2, 2018 at Landmark Hospital in Savannah, GA. She was born in Somerville, NJ on March 13, 1936 to her late parents, Josephine and Benjamin Kleine. Trudy resided in Bridgewater for most of her life, then Lanoka Harbor, NJ, for ten years, before moving to Bluffton, SC 13 years ago. Trudy was a Graduate of Douglas College, Division of Rutgers University in New Brunswick, NJ, Class of 1958 and majored in Economics. Trudy's first job out of college was a Teacher in the Somerville School system. Trudy was a member of St. Gregory the Great, Catholic Church in Bluffton, SC. She traveled extensively, enjoyed cooking, reading, going to the beach, entertaining, fashion, and had a knack for interior design. She loved her family dearly and took time off teaching to raise her 3 children, Keith, David and Rod. She later returned to the workforce as a Contract Administrator for Air Co BOC Industrial Gases in Murray Hill, NJ. Trudy and her husband Joe retired and moved to the Hilton Head Island, South Carolina area in 2004. There, they became active in the community where they formed a Bocce league that consisted of 16 teams. Trudy became Chairman of the Dinner committee and Joe the President of the Bocce league. Trudy enjoyed The Theatre and Social events in Nearby Savannah, Ga.Trudy will sorely be missed, but will live on in our hearts and memory's forever. Surviving are her beloved husband of 60 years, Joseph N.; three dear sons, Keith and his wife Pamela of Hampton, NJ, David and wife Kathleen of Jackson, NJ, and Rodney and significant other Stacy Lapkin of Peoria, AZ; and three cherished grandchildren, Ashley, Daniel, and Alexander. Viewing will be held Friday, March 9, 2018 from 2-4 and 7-9pm at the Branchburg Funeral Home 910 US Highway 202 South, Branchburg, NJ 08876. Funeral services will start with a prayer at the funeral home at 9am on Saturday, March 10, 2018 followed by a 10am funeral liturgy at Blessed Sacrament R.C. Church in Martinsville. Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery in Piscataway.
