Gerard J. Sheehan Jr. Three Bridges, NJ Gerard J. Sheehan Jr., 75, of Three Bridges, NJ, passed away on Saturday, July 22, 2023. Born in New Bern, North Carolina, Gerard grew up in Staten Island, NY, where he graduated from Tottenville High School, Class of 1965. He was a member of the Tottenville baseball team and played for the American Legion in Staten Island.

After graduating, Gerard went on to serve our country in the United States Marine Corps as a Third Reconnaissance Sergeant from 1966-1969. During his service, he completed Jungle Training School in Panama and Reconnaissance School at Camp Pendleton, California. Gerard was deployed to Vietnam in October of 1967, where he was wounded in February of 1968 and awarded the Purple Heart.

After honorable discharge, Gerard started his career at Bell Ford in Colonia, NJ, where he resided with his family for 23 years. Gerard was a member of the Staten Island Marine Corp League, Colonia V.F.W. Post # 6061, and served on the board of directors at the Colonia Country Club.

Gerard and his family then moved to Ringoes, NJ. He worked for Ditchman Ford/Lincoln as a Vice President General Manager for 30 years before his retirement in 2022. He was a board member of the Hunterdon County Crime Stoppers.

Gerard was an avid golfer, and enjoyed numerous sports. He played softball for over 20 years in Middlesex County. One thing Gerard enjoyed the most was his family, especially his grandchildren. He was their number one fan and supporter. Whether it was a phone call the night before a big game or cheering from the sideline, Gerard's positive energy was always impactful for everyone.

He is preceded in death by his beloved parents, Joan and Gerard J. Sheehan Sr.

Surviving are his loving wife of 55 years, Kathleen (Roe) Sheehan, a dear son, Gerard III and wife Christine Sheehan of Staten Island, NY; three loving daughters, Colleen and husband Christian Callahan of Ringoes, NJ; Kelly and husband Attila Horvath of Ringoes, NJ; Meghan Sheehan of Flemington, NJ; three brothers, Edward and wife Charlene Sheehan of Colonia, NJ; James and wife Constance Sheehan of Hillsborough, NJ; Kenneth and wife Patricia Sheehan of East Newark, NJ; three sisters, Janet and husband David Pinto of North Brunswick, NJ; Kathleen and husband Chester Oldakowski of Annandale, NJ; Diane and husband Richard Zekes of South Plainfield, NJ; eight cherished grandchildren, Christian, Quinn, John, Gerard IV, Brighid, Joseph, Patrick, Declan and many loving nieces and nephews.

A viewing will be held on Friday, July 28, 2023 from 4-8pm at the Branchburg Funeral Home 910 Rt. 202 South, Branchburg, NJ 08876.

A prayer service will begin at the funeral home on Saturday, July 29, 2023 at 9:15am. Funeral mass will follow at 10am at Immaculate Conception Church, 35 Mountain Ave Somerville, NJ 08876.

Committal is private.
