Gary Olivero
Flemington, NJ
Gary Olivero, 68, of Flemington, NJ, passed away on Saturday, April 15, 2023 at RWJ Hospital in New Brunswick. Born in Perth Amboy, NJ, Gary spent most of his earlier life in Fords before moving to Flemington 30 plus years ago.
Gary graduated from Woodbridge High School, Class of 1973.
Mr. Olivero was the owner and operator of G&N Construction - The Basement King LLC, a business that he started and worked for 30 plus years. Gary was a hardworking man, he took a lot of pride doing his job and making his clients happy with his work was his greatest reward and accomplishment. Gary built a high reputation that allowed him to have steady clients and be constantly recommended by them. His charismatic personality always clicked with his clients and allowed him to establish a close relationship with them and gain their trust. He always made himself available for them through the whole process of the job to make them comfortable and attend to their needs and requests. His happy, outgoing, sometimes silly, but funny and very social personality always clicked with homeowners' young children and pets. They would wait for him to go to their house to show them his silly side and make them laugh. His love for animals, made his clients' pets to waggle their tails and greet him with great excitement.
His charming personality always shined and captivated his neighbors' young children, which made him gain their love and respect, and they would share with him things that they made for him. As an outgoing and social person, Gary had many friends, and he would talk to everybody, even to strangers, would crack jokes to make people laugh, and would sing wherever he went, at work, at the bank, even to the cashiers at Home Depot, or just while driving by himself. Gary would sing at home all the time and in this way would steal his wife's heart and smile every day, his silliness brought more laughter and happiness to his wife.
Gary was also a member of the N.J. Cichlids Facebook Group, and a member of the Carpenters Union Local # 65 in Perth Amboy, NJ.
Gary had multiple fish tanks which had many saltwater fish that he would sell and raise them for over 20 years. He took great pride in making sure his fish and clients were getting everything they needed. Gary loved animals and was always rescuing turtles on the road or other animals that could be in danger. He loved to decorate his house during Christmas time to bring happiness to the children that lived around. Most importantly, he enjoyed spending quality time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his beloved parents, Nancy and Jerry Olivero.
Surviving are his loving wife of 12 years, Luz Brigith Olivero, three daughters, Jennine and husband Justin Higa of Mount Dora, FL; Christina (Krisi) Olivero of Chattanooga, TN; Amanda Olivero of St. Augustine, FL; one dear brother, Dennis Olivero of Fords, NJ; his nephew/godson Anthony Olivero of Fords, NJ, his wife Jordan Olivero, and their sons Kieran, AJ, and Austin Olivero; three cherished grandchildren, Avery, Abigail, and Greyson Higa, his canine companion, Bruno, and two feline companions, Molly and Max.
