Obituary

Frances Sarah (O'Brien) Tiger 1931 – 2018 Frances Sarah (O'Brien) Tiger, 86, of Somerset, New Jersey passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 9, 2018. Born in Manhattan (Greenwich Village), New York on December 20, 1931 to her late parents Anne Marie and Andrew O'Brien. Her late brother is Andrew O'Brien, Jr. She resided in Branchburg for 60 years of her life before moving to Somerset one year ago. Frances was predeceased by her husband of nearly 65 years, Alvin Tiger in January 2018. Surviving Frances are two children, Stephen (wife Yvette), and Liz (husband Peter); six grandchildren, Bryan Tiger (wife Joyce), Gregory Gecik (wife Christine), Katelyn Gecik, Megan Gecik, Peter Orlando (wife Jennifer), and Michael Orlando; five great grandchildren including Emma Grace, James Michael, Adeline Francesca, Larissa, and Meredith; and a host of close friends and loved ones. Mrs. Tiger retired as a paralegal from City Federal Bank in Piscataway, New Jersey. Before her employment with City Federal Bank she was accepted at Hunter College in New York city to study law. In her youth, she won the Spanish medal. Frances was a communicant of Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church. She enjoyed traveling and spending time with family and close friends. Fran was extremely artistic. She created wonderful figurines, dolls, crafts, oil paintings and hand painted china. She was a highly skilled baker and enjoyed gifting her loved ones with her creations especially her chocolate chip cookies. She had a great sense of humor, a sense of the ridiculousness along with a loving and caring persona which seemed to radiate around her and was contagious to all those around her. She had such a generous spirit and was always so generous with her grandchildren. No one was a stranger to her (at least until we told her she must stop picking up total strangers). Viewing will be held Wednesday, March 14, 2018 from 7-9pm and Thursday, March 15, 2018 from 10-10:30am followed by a 10:30am prayer service at the Branchburg Funeral Home 910 Route 202 South, Branchburg, New Jersey 08876. Entombment will follow at St. Bernard Cemetery Mausoleum. Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to Grandma's Place (a shelter to children who have suffered abuse or neglect and have been removed from their homes), 184 Sparrow Drive, Royal Palm Beach, Florida 33411, 561-753-2226, www.grandmasplace.org.
