Frances Kuhlmann

Frances Kuhlmann, 96, was a genteel lady who lived a life of dignity and compassion. Born and raised in Oak Park IL, she was the eldest of two daughters, whose parents immigrated from England in the 1920s. She held a Bachelor's degree in Sociology from Elmhurst College. In 1948, she married Bill Kuhlmann. Together, they enjoyed a 62-year life adventure.

They left Illinois for New Jersey in 1951 when Bill accepted a job at Bell Labs as an electrical engineer. There they built a house in the Glacier Hills section of Parsippany and raised four children. Fran embraced the role of traditional wife and mother for which her children are grateful. When they were older, Fran went back to work. She started as the Parsippany Hills High School's Media Center Secretary and was later promoted to Guidance Administrative Assistant.

Fran and Bill shared a love of fishing starting with their honeymoon and continuing with annual trips to Lake Charleston (Ontario, Canada) to share that love with their children and grandchildren. Both were huge Devils fans and were there to see their team win the Stanley Cup twice.

When they retired, they traveled throughout Europe and also journeyed to Australia and New Zealand. It was a great life.

Fran moved to Fellowship Village a year after Bill died making that her home for the past 11 years.

Her life was blessed and her family was blessed to have her love and care. She will be deeply missed.

Frances is survived by her three daughters, Kim Kuhlmann, Jan Kuhlmann and Lynn Burke and her husband, Joseph, and her son, Keith Kuhlmann and his wife, Karen. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Tracy Burke, Kevin Burke, his wife, Sophie, their three sons and Alyssa Carver, and her husband Andrew. She is survived as well by her step-grandchildren, Richard and Kevin Rakowski, Kelly and Anthony Todesco and their three sons.
