Esther L. Gramer

Esther Gramer, 90, of Bridgewater, NJ, passed away on Tuesday, May 17, 2022 at her home surrounded by her loving family. Born in Crawfordsville, IN, Esther and husband George Gramer moved to Cincinnati, OH where they started a family. After 10 years of living in Cincinnati, they moved their family to Bridgewater, NJ where they resided for 49 years.
Esther graduated from Crawfordsville High School, Class of 1949. She then went on to graduate from St. Vincent's Hospital School of Nursing in Indianapolis where she received her Registered Nurse (RN) Degree. After marriage, Esther followed her husband George to Alaska and Gulfport, Mississippi during the Korean War effort. She worked as a Registered Nurse at a hospital in Fairbanks, AK and in Gulfport Mississippi. While in AK, Esther also captured the eye of local photographer and dabbled in modeling. After the Gulfport assignment, Esther and George moved to Cincinnati where she put her career on hold to raise a family. After ten lovely years in Cincinnati, Esther followed George to New Jersey for work and she resumed her career as an RN. She worked at a nursing homes and rehab centers before retiring and spending quality time with family and grandchildren. Esther was married to George for 63 years until his death in 2015.
Esther had an adventurous spirit and loved to travel to new and exciting places. She enjoyed walking and riding her bicycle. She was part of her neighborhood Horseshoe Club and kept her mind sharp by doing crossword puzzles, card games, playing games, and was a voracious reading. The one thing Esther enjoyed the most was spending quality time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, George W. Gramer Jr. (2015), her parents, Thelma and Buel Warren, two brothers, Don and Jim Warren, and a sister, Virginia Dawson.
Surviving are her dear son Mark and wife Linda Gramer of Pompano Beach, FL; two loving daughters, Joan Gramer of Bridgewater, NJ; Ann and husband Gary Wabuda of Branchburg, NJ; and five cherished grandchildren, Chris, Jessica, Kelly, William, and Matthew.
A viewing will be held on Saturday, May 21, 2021 from 1-5pm at the Branchburg Funeral Home 910 Rt. 202 South, Branchburg, NJ 08876.
A prayer service will begin at the funeral home on Monday, May 23, 2022 at 10:00am. Entombment will follow at Somerset Hill Memorial Park in Basking Ridge, NJ.
