Erwin J. Wittmann Branchburg, NJ Erwin J. Wittmann, 88, of Branchburg, NJ, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 30, 2018 at Abington Care Center. Born in Eichstätt, Germany, he immigrated to the United States, and lived in North Plainfield, NJ for 17 years before moving to Branchburg 29 years ago. Erwin was an avid fisherman, loved taking trips to the Jersey Shore, especially Sandy Hook, painting, was very handy, and loved to take on new projects around the house. He had a strong passion for music and played numerous instruments. He will be missed tremendously by all who knew and loved him. He is preceded in death by his loving parents, Cecilia and Johan Wittmann; and a sister, Hildegard Froeba (2010). Surviving are his beloved wife of 50 years, Maria Dorninger Wittmann; two loving daughters, Cornelia and husband Thomas Piersanti of Stocton, NJ; and Carolyn and husband Hartmut Schulz of Germany; one dear brother, Hans Wittmann of Freilassing, Germany; two cherished grandchildren, Laurie and Garrett; three adored great-grandchildren, Leo, Cora, and Emma; and many wonderful nieces and nephews. A memorial visitation will be held at on Saturday, November 10, 2018 from 2-4pm with a prayer service at 3:30pm at the Branchburg Funeral Home 910 US Highway 202 South Branchburg, NJ 08876.
