Ernest E. Stone

Ernest E. Stone, 91, of Branchburg, NJ, passed away on Monday, August 21, 2023 at RWJ Hospital in Somerville. Born in Clifton, NJ, Ernest resided in Paterson, Lake Hopatcong, and Budd Lake before moving to Branchburg 15 years ago.

Ernest served our country in the Army National Guard from 1951-1954. After his military service, he started working for Yardley of London as a batch maker and moved on to PF Pharmaceuticals as a Porter and Union Shop Stewart before his retirement in 1994.

Ernest loved bowling and bowled in many leagues for over 67 years. He would spend many hours teaching his children and grandchildren the game. He was a member of the Branchburg and Budd Lake Seniors Club. He enjoyed horse racing, watching baseball & football, specifically the Mets and Giants. He was a patriotic family man who adored his wife, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his beloved parents, Vernabelle and Ernest E. Stone, three sisters, Elaine Huber, June Probst, and Gloria LaRue, and a brother, William Prentice.

Surviving are his loving wife of 70 years, Nancy L. Stone, two dear sons, Ernest Stone III (Marlene), Thomas Stone (Andrea), three loving daughters, Sally Sweeney (Kevin), Jean Latham (George), and Sandra Willoughby (Robert), 14 cherished grandchildren and 12 adored great grandchildren.
