Ellen VanDyk, 63, of Neshanic Station, NJ, passed away on Monday, May 31, 2021 at RWJ in Somerville. Born in Denville, Ellen resided in Neshanic Station for the past 29 years. Ellen graduated from Morris Knolls High School Class of 1975. She then went on to graduate with a degree in Biblical Studies from Somerset Christian College in 2009. Ellen was a Girl Scout mom and a part of the PTO Organization. She was an avid reader, she enjoyed baking, cooking, and gardening. Ellen worked at Macy's for several years where she enjoyed finding deals for herself and others. Her generosity shined by giving gifts to everyone. She was very active in her church and always looked for opportunities to share the love of Jesus everywhere she went. She would light up any room she walked into simply due to her infectious laugh. Ellen had an amazing, joyful personality. One thing Ellen enjoyed the most was spending quality time with her family especially her children and their spouses. She is preceded in death by her beloved mother, Ann M. Best, and her sister, Holly Lemoine. Surviving are her loving husband of 40 years, Scott Kafka, her father Donald VanDyk of Denville, NJ; two cherished daughters, Jennifer and husband Arnold Lei of Golden, Colorado; Kimberly Kafka and husband Tyler Anderson of Lebanon, NJ; two brothers, Phillip VanDyk of Denville, NJ; Warren and wife Ellen VanDyk of Denville, NJ; her feline companion Lula and many loving nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, June 6, 2021 from 2-4pm at the Branchburg Funeral Home 910 Rt 202 South Branchburg, NJ 08876. A prayer service will begin at the funeral home on Sunday, June 6, 2021 at 3pm. Memorial contributions may be made in Ellen's memory to the Branchburg Rescue Squad 113 River Road Branchburg, NJ 08876 or the Gateway Church 325 NJ-31 Flemington, NJ 08822. Committal is private.
