Helen Ballas, 84, of Raritan, NJ, passed away on Monday, March 9, 2020 at Robert Wood Johnson Medical Center Somerset. She was born September 20, 1935 in Valerianos Cephalonia, Greece. She resided in Middlesex for approximately 25 years prior to Raritan.
As co-owner of Bridals by Anita for many years, she loved being a seamstress and working with people. She enjoyed taking trips to Atlantic City and card nights with her family and friends. She enjoyed cooking, baking and took great pride in her home. One thing she loved the most was spending quality time with her family. She touched everyone with her kind sweet soul.
She is preceded in death by her beloved parents Malvina and Spirangelo Chilimidos and her dear brother Dionisios.
Surviving are her loving husband of 50 years, Gerasimos Ballas, two sons Sokratis Ballas of Raritan, NJ and Dennis Grouzes; a loving daughter Dionysia "Denise" and husband Hank Schallenberger Jr. of Raritan, NJ; three cherished grandchildren, Christopher, Nicholas, and Madison, and one adored great granddaughter, Nora.
A viewing will be held on Thursday, March 12, 2020 from 6-9pm at the Branchburg Funeral Home 910 Rt. 202 South Branchburg, NJ 08876.
Funeral services will start with a prayer at the funeral home on Friday, March 13, 2020 at 10:15am followed by an 11:30am mass at St. George Greek Orthodox Church in Piscataway, NJ. Burial will follow at St. Bernard Cemetery in Bridgewater, NJ.
