Edythe (Eddie) Hodge Leddy, 93, of Hillsborough, NJ, passed away peacefully on May 1, 2021 at her residence at The Avalon assisted living facility in Hillsborough. A daughter of the south, Edythe was born in Dodge County, GA and grew up in Jacksonville, FL. She attended Andrew Jackson High School and the Jacksonville Secretarial School. Edythe married and later settled down in Bound Brook, NJ. She obtained her real estate license which allowed her to work as a property manager. Edythe ultimately became the property manager of the Somerville Senior Citizens Housing apartment building in 1979 until 1997. Edythe retired to Barnegat, NJ, close to the ocean which she loved. She remained active as a volunteer for the Ladies Auxiliary at Southern Ocean County Medical Center and at Heritage Bay's Women's Club where she functioned as treasurer. She will be remembered as a feisty, independent, and intelligent woman who loved her family and friends, an amateur birder, a voracious reader, an adept gardener, a collector of beautiful things, an accomplished seamstress and quilter and someone who was always there to lend a hand if you needed it. She is preceded in death by her beloved parents Duffie and Arthur Hodge, and a sister Stella Drake. Surviving are her three dear sons Harold (Cathy) Leddy of Bridgewater, NJ; Matthew (Susan) Leddy of TX; Mark (David Cohen) Leddy of Washington D.C; a sister, Melver Boone of Nashville, TN; a brother Douglas Hodge of Maclenny, FL; six cherished grandchildren, Daria and Gregory Leddy, Addison and Jaden Leddy, Alexander and Nicholas Cohen-Leddy; and several nieces and nephews. A viewing will be held on Thursday, May 6, 2021 from 9am-12pm at the Branchburg Funeral Home 910 Rte. 202 South Branchburg, NJ 08876. A prayer service will begin at the funeral home at 12pm. Entombment will follow at St. Bernard Cemetery in Bridgewater, NJ.
