Edward Thomas Harris Bridgewater, NJ Edward Thomas Harris, 89, of Bridgewater NJ, passed away peacefully on Sunday September 13, 2015. Born in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania. Mr. Harris resided with his family in Virginia, West Virginia, California, and Illinois before moving to New Jersey in 1976. He was a member of the Bar in the District of Columbia and California and attended the U.S. Supreme Court. After graduating from Boston College Law School, he worked for the Continental Insurance Company for 39 years and held the position of Senior Vice President in charge of the Claims and Legal Departments. He was active in the Association of Defense Council, Insurance Association of Defense Council, served on the Board of Directors of the Asbestos Claims Facility, Underwriters Adjusting Company, Insurance Arbitration Forums and Insurance Information Institute. During his employment at the Continental Insurance Company, Edward was selected by the President Eisenhower Cultural Exchange Program to accompany ten other attorney's on a trip to England, Hungary, France, and Germany to meet with Judges, Attorneys and Law School Deans to exchange information on the law of the countries visited. Two years later he again was selected as one of the twelve attorneys to meet with legal members in New Zealand and Australia for the same legal cultural exchange program. Mr. Harris served in the 80th Army as a bazooka man during World War II. He was awarded the Combat Infantryman's Medal and Bronze Star. Edward was an avid golfer who enjoyed traveling all around the world. He enjoyed spending quality time with his family, especially his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his beloved parents, Stephen and Stella Harris; two brothers, Leonard and Clem, and 2 sisters, Ann and Dolores. Surviving are his beloved wife of 63 Years, Martha Kaminski Harris; his dear son, Robert and his wife Lucy Harris of Flemington NJ; a loving daughter, Linda and her husband Brian Flannery of Port Murray NJ; A wonderful brother, Raymond and his wife Connie Harris of Marshfield Mass; a loving sister, Carol and her husband Joe Martinsky of Tavernackle NJ; four cherished grandchildren, Marybeth, Rachel, Alyssa, and Chris; four cherished great-grandchildren, Michael, Nicholas, Charlotte, and Thomas, and many special nieces and nephews. Viewing will be private. A Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, September 17, 2015 at 10:00 AM at St. Bernard's R.C. Church in Bridgewater NJ. Entombment will follow in the St. Bernard's Mausoleum in Bridgewater NJ. In lieu of flowers, Ed requests a donation to Sloan Kettering Cancer Center-make check payable to MSKCC, P.O.
