Dr. Robert R. Giacobbe Whitehouse Station, NJ Dr. Robert Giacobbe, 84, of Whitehouse Station, NJ, passed away on Friday, April 24, 2020 at his residence. Born in Newark, NJ, he resided in Branchburg for 43 years before moving to Stone Harbor for 5 years, then moving to Whitehouse Station where he spent the last 5 years. Robert graduated from St. Benedict's Preparatory School in 1953. After graduating high school, he attended Rutgers University, graduating in 1957. After being recalled into the Army during the Berlin Crisis of 1961, he attended dental school at UMDNJ in Jersey City where he graduated in 1967. Robert was a member of the NJ Dental Association. He worked as a Dentist for 30 years in Branchburg before his retirement in 1998. Robert was an avid reader and loved World War II History. He coached Little League baseball and CYO basketball for many years. He enjoyed gardening, hunting, fishing, and boating. He was an avid Giants, Yankees, and Rutgers fan. He loved spending time at the Jersey Shore in Stone Harbor and traveling with his wife and friends. Most importantly he adored his quality time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his beloved parents, Mary and Anthony Giacobbe, and two sisters, Norma Doran and Valentina Merritt. Surviving are his loving wife of 60 years, Dorothea DiBiasi Giacobbe, two loving daughters, Patricia and husband Thomas Gambino of Basking Ridge, NJ; Nancy and husband Ronald Richardson of Springfield, VA; two dear sons, Dr. Robert and wife Dr. Christine Giacobbe of Setauket, NY; Peter and wife Shannon Giacobbe of Ivoryton, CT; and nine cherished grandchildren, Thomas, Kathleen, Christina, Elizabeth, Rebecca, Amanda, Carolyn, Robert, and Daniel. Memorial contributions may be made in his memory to St. Benedict's Preparatory School, 520 Dr. M.L.K. Jr. Blvd, Newark, NJ 07102 and Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 390 County Rd. #523, Whitehouse Station, NJ 08889. Funeral services will be private.
