Obituary

Dr. Robert John Armento, "Doc" Raritan, NJ Robert Armento, 84, of Raritan, NJ, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 24, 2021 at his home surrounded by his loving wife and the support of his family. "Doc", as many knew him, enjoyed playing sports and coaching little league, driving around with his dog Charlie, going on vacations with his family and friends, and yelling at the TV when watching the Mets and Giants. Born in East Orange, NJ, Robert graduated from EO High School, received a B.S. degree from Georgetown University, and then spent two years in the Army stationed in Germany, where he travelled throughout Europe and played basketball. He received his Dental degree and orthodontic training from the College of Dental Medicine at Fairleigh Dickinson University. He resided in North Caldwell for 44 years, raising a family of four boys with his adoring wife Ingrid. Robert enjoyed teaching kids with braces how to gamble while straightening countless smiles for almost 50 years from his office in Nutley, NJ, and other offices throughout the state. He loved his Golden Retriever dogs and spending quality time down at the shore, at Seaside Park with his boys and their wives. He loved taking the boat out and teaching chess, poker, and rummy 500 to his grandchildren which he adored. Fishing, golfing, skiing, or just hanging out with a cigar; Bob treasured time he spent with the guys and cherished all the great moments shared with so many friends over the years. He loved them all, and will finally be reunited with ones he has missed. Above all, he loved life and called the shots as he saw fit, while always taking care of those around him. He is preceded in death by his beloved parents, Loretta and Daniel Armento, and a brother Dr. Donald Armento. Surviving are his loving wife of 56 years, Ingrid Buchholz Armento, four dear sons, Daniel and wife Rita Armento of Hillsborough, NJ; Michael and wife Julie Armento of Mendham, NJ; Christopher and wife Lisa Armento of Eatontown, NJ; Thomas Armento of Denver, CO; and seven grandchildren he loved dearly: Dominic, Matthew, Joseph, Christian, Nicholas, Benjamin, and John. A viewing will be held on Sunday, August 29, 2021 from 11am-2pm at the Branchburg Funeral Home, 910 US-202 South, Branchburg, NJ 08876. A prayer service will be held at the funeral home at 1:30pm.
