Dorothy Mae Hecht Hartmann , 91, known to many as the "Cookie Lady", passed away on Thursday, April 25, 2013, at Raritan Health and Extended Care in Raritan, NJ. Born in Raritan, Dorothy resided in Bridgewater for over 70 years. Known as "Dottie" she worked for Gaston Ave Bakery in Somerville for many years. Prior to working at the Gaston Ave Bakery, she worked at the Raritan Bakery. Dottie was a charter member of Bridgewater United Methodist Church in Bridgewater. She was an avid knitter and loved to crochet, donating her afghans to the needy. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, George Paul Hartmann in 1980; a sister and four brothers. Surviving are her loving sons, John Hartmann and his wife, Nancy of Glen Gardner, Robert Hartmann and his wife, Carol of CT, and Richard Hartmann and his wife, Lynn of Manville; seven grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; four sisters; one brother; and many nieces and nephews. A Prayer Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, April 29, 2013 at Branchburg Funeral Home, 910 US Highway 202 South, Branchburg, NJ 08876 (908) 526-7638. Interment will follow at St. Bernard Cemetery, Route 28, Bridgewater. Viewing hours are Sunday, April 28, 2013 from 4 to 7 PM at the funeral home.
