Donald J. McGovern Bridgewater, NJ Donald J. McGovern, 93, of Bridgewater, NJ, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 22, 2021 at his home. Born in Cliffside Park, NJ, on May 9, 1928 to his late parents Catherine Clancy and Patrick McGovern, he was a resident of Saddle Brook for 33 years, then Bedminster for 24 years, before moving to Bridgewater 9 years ago. Donald worked as an Electrical Technician for over 30 years for Western Electric before retiring in 1983. Donald was a devout Catholic and was a longtime parishioner of St. Elizabeth and St. Brigid Church. Donald enjoyed gardening with his late wife Lillian, had a great love of music, beekeeping, took great pride in his home, loved his wife's cooking, hosting Sunday dinners, and spending quality time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He will be missed tremendously by all the hearts he touched. He is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 59 years, Lillian Hacay McGovern (2014); and two brothers, Thomas and John. Surviving are his two loving sons, Patrick and wife Debra of New Providence, NJ, and Michael and wife Diane of Bridgewater, NJ; five cherished grandchildren, Caitlin, Kevin, Kyle, Erin, and Kayla; two adored great grandchildren, Theodore and Lillian, and many wonderful nieces and nephews. Viewing will be held Monday, June 28, 2021 from 4-8pm at the Branchburg Funeral Home 910 US Highway 202 South, Branchburg, NJ 08876. Funeral services will start with a prayer at 9:15am at the funeral home on Tuesday, June 29, 2021 followed by a 10am funeral liturgy at St. Bernard R.C. Church in Bridgewater. Entombment will follow at St. Bernard Cemetery Mausoleum in Bridgewater.
