Donald Baker, 85, of Branchburg, NJ passed away on Monday, February 8, 2021 at his residence. Born in Newark, NJ, Donald resided in Edison for 26 years before moving to Branchburg 38 years ago.
Donald graduated from Southside High School in 1965. After graduating, he went to serve in the U.S. Army.
Donald worked for Johanna Farms in sales and delivery for 35 years before retiring in 1991.
Donald was a member of the Teamsters Union #584 in New York City. He enjoyed feeding all kinds of birds, especially his hummingbirds and gold finches. Donald loved working outside and took great pride in caring for his home. He loved playing basketball as a young man as well as with his children and grandchildren. He even coached for Edison's Little League Baseball for many years. Donald loved to take trips to Lake George, NY and Ocean City, NJ with his family. One thing Donald enjoyed the most was spending quality time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his beloved parents, Betty and Eugene Baker II, and a brother, Jack Baker.
Surviving are his loving wife of 65 years, Darlyn Strachan Baker, two dear sons, Craig and wife Jo Anne Baker of York, PA; Keith Baker of Manchester, PA; a loving daughter, Kim and husband Rick Vliet of Califon, NJ; two brothers, Robert and wife Eva Baker of Roselle Park, NJ; Eugene Baker III and wife Shirley of Rocky Mount, NC; nine cherished grandchildren, Keith Jr., Nicholas, Kelly, David, Brian, Brittnie, Ashley, Brendon, and Andrew and 10 adored great grandchildren, Kaylie, Riley, Zoe, Hudson, Carson, Phoenix, Peyton, Knox, Juniper, Zoe and many loving nieces and nephews.
A viewing will be held on Saturday, February 13, 2021 from 2-6pm at the Branchburg Funeral Home 910 Rt. 202 South, Branchburg, NJ 08876.
A prayer service will begin on Saturday, February 13, 2021 at 5pm at the Branchburg Funeral Home.
Memorial contributions may be made in Donald's memory to St. Jude's Children's Hospital 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105.
Committal is private.
