Diane C. McCudden, 81, of Stockton, NJ, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 14, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.

Born and raised on the Lower East Side of Manhattan, Diane attended P.S. 63 and graduated high school before embarking on a career as an administrative assistant in the hospitality and hotel industry. It was during this time she met the love of her life, Bernard McCudden. After marrying, the couple moved to Rockaway, NJ, where they began building a beautiful life and raising their three sons: Scott, Billy, and Craig.

In 1979, Diane and Bernard took a bold step, relocating to Bridgewater, NJ, to open Don's Famous Hoagie Shop in Somerville. Diane's tireless dedication and entrepreneurial spirit were instrumental in the deli's success, which not only supported the family but also brought joy and good food to the local community. After 11 successful years, Diane sold the family business, and she and Bernard retired to Melbourne Beach, Florida.

In 2016, Diane returned to New Jersey to be closer to her growing family, settling in Lambertville, where she remained deeply involved in their lives.

Diane had a natural creative flair and was always decorating her home with love and care. She cherished time spent in the garden, enjoyed long conversations with friends and family, and delighted in making lasting memories with her children and grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her beloved parents, Rose Claps and Arturo Casanova; her devoted husband Bernard; her sister, Rosemary Wilkerson; and her dear lifelong friend, Helene Greenstein.

Diane is survived by her three loving sons: Scott McCudden, William and wife Ramona McCudden, and Craig McCudden; her sister Paula and husband Tom Malarky; and her six cherished grandchildren: Rachael, Ryan, Conor, Kyle, Quinn, and Zoe.

Committal will be private.

Diane's warmth, creativity, and unwavering love for her family will be remembered always.
