David A. Gossage

David A. Gossage (Tony), 78, of Bridgewater, NJ, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 8, 2025, at RWJ Hospital in Somerville. His wife, Doreen, and daughter, Daphne, were with him. He is preceded in death by his beloved parents, Lillian DeLong and Harry R. Gossage, his sisters, Alice M. Chimile, Charlene R. Hobschaidt, Lois J. Keenan, his brother, Harold D. Gossage, and his granddaughter, Rebecca Smith.

Surviving Tony are his loving wife, Doreen Gossage, his daughter Daphne Sue and husband Stephen Smith, his son Timothy David and wife Kelly Gossage, and three cherished grandchildren, Max, John and Garrett.

Tony has said many times that if he died today, he would not regret anything. He loved playing the piano and could play by ear without reading the music. He loved taking the scenic route, which drove his wife, Doreen, and his kids crazy because they just wanted to get there. He was kind and generous, and you could always depend on Tony for anything, airport pick-ups, chasing "bats" out of bathrooms, "intruders" in the basement, or if your car broke down and you needed a ride anywhere.

After high school, Tony served in the Airforce for 7 years. He was stationed in Pakistan and Japan. His daughter, Daphne, was born while he was in Pakistan and his son, Timothy, was born in Japan. After leaving the service, he obtained an Associates Degree while managing a restaurant chain on Long Island and raising his family with his first wife, Dale. He moved to NJ in the early 80s and worked as a Systems Tester at Western Electric/AT&T, and Lucent Technologies as Technical Sales Support and then Project Manager. He traveled extensively while at Lucent and lived in Singapore for 2 years where he met his current wife, Doreen. They were married in Bangkok, Thailand in 1992, lived there for 2 years and moved back to New Jersey in 1993. He retired from Lucent in 2000 but continued to work in different jobs after leaving Lucent. He loved interacting with people, so he particularly enjoyed working as a mail carrier, the US Census as a census taker and then a supervisor, working security at Rutgers sports events, and umpiring high school and recreational baseball games. He also sang with the Hunterdon Harmonizers barbershop chorus. He was an avid sports fan, supporting the Mets and Jets, and loved game shows, and playing card games like Pinochle, Pass the Ace, and Dominoes. He has impacted many lives and will be sorely missed.

A viewing will be held on Thursday, August 14, 2025, from 3-7pm, and Friday, August 15, 2025, from 9-11am with a service starting at 10:30 am at the Branchburg Funeral Home, 910 Rt. 202 South, Branchburg, NJ 08876.
