SOMERVILLE- David "Poppy" Barrett, 91 died on June 8, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on November 10, 1932, to his late parents David and Christine (nee Hilquist) Barrett. He is survived by his beloved wife, of 66 years, Rayne, his sons Scott (Debi) Barrett, Glenn (Joanie) Barrett, and daughter BethAnn Wirzman. Brother Robert (Myrna) Barrett, two sisters Doris Barrett, Lynn Barrett, five grandchildren, Nicole Barrett and fiancé Nicholas Crescenzo, Sarah Barrett and fiancé Matthew Brooks, Taylor Barrett, Andrea Barrett. Kyle Barrett and several nieces and nephews. He was also predeceased by his sister Joan Goetz.

David was a proud veteran of the US NAVY and was honorably discharged in 1960. He was married to the love of his life, Rayne of 66 years a devoted husband, father and grandfather. His family was most important to him. David worked as a line supervisor for PSE&G. Post retirement he was able to spend more time with the family he adored; fishing and hunting (two of his great passions).

"Poppy" loved spending the holidays with his family. His favorite was the traditional Italian Christmas Eve which included the feast of the seven fishes.

David will be missed by all who loved and knew him.
