Cynthia Ann Hadler

December 8, 1994 - September 24, 2022

Cynthia Ann Hadler, age 27, passed away from cancer on September 24, 2022. Cynthia was born on December 8, 1994, in Ridgewood, NJ. She grew up in Allendale, NJ, graduating from Northern Highlands Regional High School in 2013. Smart and ambitious, she received a Bachelor's degree in Economics from Johns Hopkins University in 2018. After graduation, she pursued a career in business, initially working in banking in San Francisco and most recently working in cybersecurity at Fiserv, a job she loved with colleagues she valued.

Cynthia was a confident, determined and capable young woman, wise beyond her years, who had an infectious sense of humor and was a fierce friend. She never let cancer limit her passion or irrepressible joy for life. Despite her diagnosis in college, she spent her final semester studying abroad in China. She enjoyed traveling and exploring other cultures, visiting over 20 countries in her short life. Her recent experiences, scheduled between chemo treatments, included traveling to a friend's destination wedding, vacationing in Mexico City, and taking a trip to Norway in August. She also loved travels closer to home, hosting her friends at her family's beach house in Mantoloking on the Jersey Shore and enjoying many wonderful summers in Cape Cod with her grandparents while attending Cape Cod Sea Camps.

Cynthia was also a sports enthusiast with a competitive nature who was always up for a game: she played travel soccer during her childhood, loved playing tennis and enjoyed many NY Giants games with her Dad. She was the driving force in organizing intense family yard game competitions at Easter or could be found simply playing frisbee with her brothers and much loved sheepadoodle, Tucker. Her boundless energy was also spent engaged with the community including volunteering at St. Anthony's Dining Room in San Francisco and Rebuilding Together North Jersey. As a leader of the College Democrats at JHU, she focused on get out the vote efforts in the 2016 election and was interviewed live on-air by BBC news.

Cynthia relished her time with her friends in Williamsburg, Brooklyn and enjoyed the great restaurants and abundance of social activities. She played in a kickball league and was planning a skydiving trip as a next adventure. Cynthia's courage and positive spirit inspires her family and friends. She was loved and will be deeply missed.

She is survived by her parents, Tom and Pat Hadler, of Branchburg, NJ, her brothers Justin and Chris, grandfathers Thomas Kowalski and Paul Boorman, and many aunts, uncles and cousins. She was predeceased by her adoring grandmothers, Jane Kowalski and Nancy Hess.

A "Celebration of Cynthia" will be held in October. The family has requested that charitable contributions in Cynthia's memory be made to Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center or the Osteosarcoma Institute.
