Cosmo A. "Gus" Sorbo , 86, passed away on Sunday, February 17, 2013, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Plainfield, he resided in Bridgewater for the past 57 years. Mr. Sorbo was a veteran of the United States Army and served during World War II. Gus worked as an Auto Mechanic for Belle Meade Garage in Belle Meade for thirty two years, until retiring in 1988. He was a communicant of St. Bernard R.C. Church in Bridgewater. Gus loved to fish, go to flea markets, and was an avid Giants fan. He also enjoyed spending quality time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his dear parents, Elpedio and Rosario Girardi Sorbo; his dear brother, Frank Sorbo; and his beloved wife of 61 years, Helen J. Sorbo, in 2009. Surviving are his loving daughter, Cynthia Smoot and her fiancé, Bill Drury of North Brunswick; and his two cherished grandchildren, Joseph and Jenelle Smoot, also of North Brunswick. A Prayer Service will be held at 10:30 AM on Thursday, February 21, 2013 at Branchburg Funeral Home, 910 US Highway 202 South, Branchburg, NJ 08876 (908) 526-7638. Entombment will be at St. Bernard Cemetery & Mausoleums, Route 28, Bridgewater. Viewing hours are Wednesday, February 20, 2013 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM at the funeral home.
