Obituary

Corinne Ann Cordasco Corinne Ann Cordasco (nee Defino), 93, passed away peacefully on Friday March 2, 2018 at her home in Bridgewater, NJ. Corinne was born in Brooklyn, NY to Otto and Theresa Defino in 1924. She resided in Chatham Twp and Toms River before moving to Bridgewater eight years ago. She worked at the Internal Revenue Service in Newark, NJ for 10 years before she retired in 1952 to be a homemaker and to raise her family. Corinne loved flowers and gardening, playing the piano, the Jersey Shore, especially Seaside Park and was an avid bowler for many years. Through the years she had several cats that she adored and who loved her equally. In her role as matriarch she loved hosting extended family gatherings, from annual picnics, holiday dinners and birthday parties in the house that Al built in Chatham Township. She enjoyed traveling back to her father's home town Irsina in Italy, where the highlight was meeting her Italian cousins and their children. Although she traveled to most of the major Italian cities she especially loved Venice and the Isle of Capri. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 56 years, Rocco Alfred and a brother, Samuel Defino. Surviving are her three children; Ellen and husband George Brenner of Palm Desert, CA, John and wife Mary of New Castle, CO, Annette and husband Joseph Longo of Bridgewater, NJ, four cherished grandchildren; Haley and Evan Longo, and Sam and Kevin Cordasco; her beloved sister, Marie Pierce of Bridgewater, NJ and devoted brother Ralph Defino of Hollywood, FL; and twenty-one adored nieces and nephews. Viewing will be held Sunday, March 11, 2018 from 1-5 pm with a 3pm prayer service offered by Father Jack Martin at the Branchburg Funeral Home, 910 US Highway 202 South, Branchburg, NJ 08876. Committal will be private. A memorial mass will be held on Saturday, April 7, 2018 at 11 am at St. Bernard of Clairvaux Church in Bridgewater. Immediately following the Mass, all are invited to attend a repast luncheon at the Raritan Valley Country Club, 747 State Route 28, Bridgewater NJ. Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to the VNA of Somerset Hills, 200 Mt Airy Rd, Basking Ridge, NJ 07869 or Somerset County Regional Animal Shelter, 100 Commons Way, Bridgewater, NJ 08807. The family was blessed to have had her caring nature and generous heart for as long as we did.
