Concha M.
Nevolo
Jul 21, 1932 — Apr 2, 2024
Concha M. Nevolo, 91, formerly of Sea Girt, NJ, passed away on April 2, 2024, in Bridgewater, NJ.
Concha was born July 21, 1932, in Paterson, NJ, the third child of Anthony and Concha (Salvador) Martone and was raised in Fair Lawn, NJ. Concha graduated from Fair Lawn High School in 1950 where she was known for her zest for life, fashion sense, and sharp wit.
Raised within a vibrant, multi-generational family in walking distance of cousins, Concha was devoted to family above all else. She maintained loving relationships with her siblings and cousins throughout her life and embraced their children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren as if they were her own.
In her youth Concha spent summers in Bradley Beach, NJ, where she met Tony Nevolo. During the summer of 1952 she began to date Tony and they married in 1953. Concha and Tony spent 70 years committed to their beautiful family and life together in Fair Lawn, NJ, where they raised their children, and in Sea Girt, NJ, where they retired. Concha was the heart of her family and her beloved grandchildren will always treasure the annual summer vacations she hosted down the shore.
Concha was a strong, contemporary woman who related to people of all ages sharing their interest in music, film, fashion, and current events. In the 1970s she took her talent for knitting and design and, with her childhood friend, opened The Yarn Shoppe in Glen Rock, NJ. The Yarn Shoppe was a lively, creative space where she encouraged experts and novices alike to linger. Through this venture she showed her abilities as a businesswoman and teacher.
Concha was warm and compassionate and had a gift for hospitality. She made everyone she met feel welcomed and cared for. She took a deep interest in the people she loved and gave time and attention freely, talking for hours at her kitchen table and sharing a bowl of ice cream.
In addition to her parents, Concha was preceded in death by her dear husband, Tony, Sister Lois Stalter, sister-in-law Sr. Frances Nevolo, and brother-in-law Joseph Nevolo.
Left to cherish Concha's memory are her children Michael (Kristy) Nevolo, Mary (Matthew) Logsdon, and John (Donna) Nevolo; grandchildren Nathaniel (Adrien) Logsdon, Julie (John) Halverson, Jeffrey (Diana) Nevolo, Laura (Josh Kriz) Logsdon, Christopher (Kara) Nevolo, Timothy Nevolo, Dennis Nevolo, David Nevolo, and Kelsey (Christopher) Brianik; seven great-grandchildren; and sisters Betty Ann Esser, Marianne Martino, and brother Anthony Martone.
