Charles Edward Brighthaupt, Jr. "Chip", 41, of Ringoes, NJ passed away peacefully, Sunday, December 5th, at Hunterdon Medical Center, Flemington, NJ from complications linked to his courageous battle with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL) 25 years ago. Chip was an active boy scout and prior to his diagnosis was a counselor-in-training at Yards Creek Scout Reservation, where he worked in the kitchen perfecting his cooking skills. For his Eagle Scout project, along with his father, the Amwell Valley Business Association, and an army of fellow boy scouts and local volunteers, he began construction of what is currently known as the 'snack shack,' located at the East Amwell Municipal Building's sports fields. The project was referred to as a Mini-Barn Raising in April of 1996, when the township committee appropriated funding to finance the project. Following his graduation from Hunterdon Central Regional High School, Chip attended Raritan Valley Community College to pursue an education in Computer Aided Drafting with the goal of becoming an architect. He accomplished the preliminary CAD certification through hard work and determination, though disabilities left after his prolonged illness stood in the way of allowing him to meet his ultimate goal. Chip was an avid car fanatic and loved customizing and detailing his Infiniti G37x Sport, building remote control cars, and attending car shows. He also enjoyed challenging friends to a game of pool. His family and friends cherished the time they were able to have Chip in their lives. He was a kind, funny, caring and loving young man who stood proud in the face of challenge after challenge, bravely fighting until the end. He will be missed and fondly remembered by all. Chip is survived by his loving parents Charles and Sharon Brighthaupt of Ringoes, his sister and brother-in-law Jennifer and Donato Colucci of Easton, PA, and his niece and nephew, Hailee, and Owen Colucci, along with many aunts, uncles, and cousins. A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, December 19, 2021 from 1-3pm at Branchburg Funeral Home, 910 Route 202 South, Branchburg, New Jersey 08876.
