Carmine J. Spinelli Jr. Whitehouse Station, NJ, 82, of Whitehouse Station, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 23, 2018. Carmine was born in Somerville to his late parents Carmine Sr. and Lena, grew up in Raritan, and spent most of his adult life in Bridgewater. For the last 17 years, Carmine resided in Whitehouse Station. He graduated from Somerville High School in 1953 and Purdue University in 1958, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Metallurgical Engineering. Carmine was a long-time dedicated public servant in the Department of Defense and who ended his career at the highest-ranking civilian at Picatinny Arsenal. He was a mentor and role model to countless people in the Picatinny community, a trusted advisor to New Jersey State officials on military affairs, Chaired the Military Affairs Commission for the last 4 governors of NY, and was a trusted advisor to a senior Member of Congress. Twice he was recipient of the Secretary of Defense Award for meritorious service and was inducted into the US Army Ordnance Hall of Fame, the Ammunition Hall of Fame, and the Purdue University Engineering Hall of Fame. Carmine was also a life-long communicant of St. Ann's Church in Raritan. He captained the Italian Food stand at the annual St. Ann's Festa for over 20 years. He was also an avid golfer and passionate NY Giants fan. Surviving are his beloved wife of 57 year, Rosanne; his loving daughter, Dina (Spinelli) Markey and her husband Joseph of Bridgewater, NJ; his dear son, David of San Diego, CA; and three cherished grandchildren, Teresa Markey of Bridgewater, NJ, Joey Markey and his wife Andrea of Hillsborough, NJ, and Nicholas Spinelli of Sunnyvale, CA. Viewing will be held Thursday, June 28, 2018 from 4-8pm at the Branchburg Funeral Home 910 US Highway 202 South, Branchburg, NJ 08876. Funeral services will start with a prayer at the funeral home at 9:15am on Friday, June 29, 2018 followed by a 10am funeral liturgy at St. Ann's R.C. Church in Raritan.
