Peter Papa

Peter Papa, 87 passed away on September 29, 2022 in Sarasota, Fl. He was born July 5, 1935 in Bronx, NY.

Peter was a veteran of the US Army. He obtained his Master's Degree taking night classes at Pace University while managing his career which lasted 50 years and was evenly split with 25 years at Mobil Corporation and then 25 years as a Benefits Manager at UMDNJ.

Peter was a Parishioner at St Bernard's of Clarivaux in Bridgewater, NJ from 1999 until moving to Sarasota, FL in 2014. Peter and Wilma recently returned to NJ to celebrate their 25 year anniversary with family and fellow parishioners of St Bernard's.

Peter was an adventure seeker which included a tandem sky jump, bungee jumping and just about every major roller coaster in the country. He enjoyed doing puzzles, an avid reader and Yankees fan. Peter loved cruising with his wife and loved country music. Peter was a mentor to many people in many situations which included founding the Young Builders Club (YBC) at St Bernard's. The YBC is still maintained and run by current families at St Bernard's. Peter loved singing karaoke and had his own special twist on the Oak Ridge Boys Elvira.

Peter loved to tell the stories of his life which were always accompanied by facial expressions and voice inflection that brought those stories to life and kept his friends and family laughing.

He is predeceased by his parents Maria Fornaro Papa, Michele (Michael) Papa and brothers Umberto, Pasquale and Francisco.

Peter is survived by his loving wife Wilma, Stepsons Bill and wife Denise of East Stroudsburg, Pa and Brian and wife Jennifer of Lambertville, NJ, a niece Loretta Siciliano of Commack, NY; and two grandchildren Zachary and Amanda.

A viewing will be held on Friday, October 14, 2022 from 4-8pm at the Branchburg Funeral Home 910 Rt. 202 South, Branchburg, NJ 08876.

A prayer service will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, October 15, 2022 at 9:15am at the Branchburg Funeral Home. Mass will take place on Saturday, October 15, 2022 at 10am at St. Bernard's R.C. Church in Bridgewater, NJ. Entombment will follow at St. Bernard Mausoleum.

Memorial contributions may be made in Peter's memory to Young Builders Club of St. Bernard of Clairvaux.
