Beverly Horton

Beverly Horton, 85, passed away on Friday, April 22, 2022, peacefully at home with her loving family by her side.
Born in Rossville, Georgia, Beverly grew up in Bradley Gardens, New Jersey, where she met the love of her life when she was 14 and married him when she was 19. She went on to raise a beautiful family, while working and going back to school at the College of Saint Elizabeth to receive her bachelor degree.
Beverly Annette Scruggs-Horton (better known as Grandma to everyone she loved) spent her days sewing, knitting, and crocheting, while passing down her knowledge, strength and patience to everyone around her.
Beverly was a Girl Scout Leader for many years in Branchburg. She also taught Sunday school at St. John's Episcopal Church in Somerville. She enjoyed doing ceramics and vacationing at the Jersey Shore especially in Lavallette, NJ. Cruising with her sister on several quilting cruises throughout the years. The one thing Beverly enjoyed the most was spending quality time with her family especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Beverly was predeceased by her parents, Louise and William Scruggs, and her brother, William Scruggs Jr. (Lucretia). She is survived by her loving husband of 66 years, James Horton Jr., her children, Cynthia Holt (Kevin) and James Horton III (Lisa), her 8 grandchildren, Tanya, James IV., Ryan, Shepard, Kaitlin, Emily, Hunter, Kevin Jr. and 6 great grandchildren, Anthony, Brody, Cara, Kelsea, Carson, Rylie and her sister Anna Nancye Alexander (Greg Doelle).
Relatives and friends may greet Beverly's family on Wednesday, April 27, 2022 6-9pm and Thursday, April 28, 2022 10am at Branchburg Funeral Home - 910 US 202, Branchburg, NJ. A church service will immediately follow at 11am at Calvary Episcopal Church, 44 Broad Street, Flemington, NJ.
