Augustine T. "Augie" Eosso, Jr. , 66, passed away Thursday, July 12, 2012 at Fox Chase Cancer Center in Philadelphia, PA. Born in Plainfield and a former resident of Metuchen, he resided in Branchburg for 41 years. Mr. Eosso was in the Army Reserve from 1969 to 1977. He received his Bachelors of Science from Seton Hall University and a Masters of Arts from Trenton State College. Augie was a communicant of Holy Trinity R.C. Church in Bridgewater. Mr. Eosso had been a member of Raritan Valley Community College since its inception in 1968 as Somerset County College. He was a member of their Health Science Education Department and just concluded his forty-third season as their Head Golf Coach. Mr. Eosso also served as the College's Director of Athletics for thirty-two years. He was the former Director of Physical Education Programs and Facilities, was instrumental in the development of their Fitness Specialist Certificate Program, and most recently, their Golf Management Program. Through his time as Raritan Valley Community College's Head Golf coach he earned numerous NJCAA Region XIX and Garden State Athletic Conference Coach of the Year Honors, and was also been inducted into the National Junior College Athletic Association Golf Hall of Fame. Under his leadership the Raritan Valley Golf Program has seen 4 undefeated seasons and several trips to the NJCAA National Tournament that include a 3rd place finish, two 6th place finishes and three 9th place team finishes. Additionally, he had served as Assistant Region Director of Region XIX of the National Junior College Athletic Association and Treasurer of the Garden State Athletic Conference for more than twenty-five years. In the Fall of 2011, Mr. Eosso was honored by his peers of NJCAA Region XIX and the Garden State Athletic Conference for over 750 career victories. He was preceded in death by his parents, Augustine P. and Filomena D'Allesio Eosso. Surviving are his beloved wife of 42 years, Sharon MacQuaide Eosso; his loving children, Augustine Eosso and wife, Erin of Clinton, Jennifer Ferraino of Flemington, and Michael Eosso and wife, Patricia of Annandale; his five cherished grandchildren, Alexander, Chip, Owen, Augustine, and Madeleine; and his loving sister, Anna Eosso of Metuchen. Funeral services will begin at 9:15 AM on Monday, July 16, 2012 at Branchburg Funeral Home, 910 US Highway 202 South, Branchburg, NJ 08876 (908) 526-7638 followed by a 10 AM Funeral Liturgy at Holy Trinity R.C. Church, 60 Maple Street, Bridgewater. Interment will be in Hillside Cemetery, 52 Lincoln Ave. Metuchen. Viewing hours are Sunday, July 15, 2012 from 3 to 7 PM at the funeral home.
