Antonio Ciancio , 89, died Friday, December 26, 2008 at Somerset Valley Nursing and Rehabilitation Facility in Bound Brook. He was born in St. Onofrio, Calabria, Italy and worked as a Blacksmith for many years before coming to the United States in 1953. While in the United States he lived most of his life in Bridgewater and worked for eleven years as a Tool and Die Maker for Ecco Pump in South Plainfield until retiring in 1985. He especially loved to sing and play his guitar. He enjoyed cooking, making wine and riding his bicycle. Antonio was a family man who cherished spending quality time with his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 55 years, Teresa Marasia Ciancio in 1999, a son, Ralph in 1973, a daughter-in-law, Linda Ciancio, in 2006 and three brothers, Domenico, Raffaele and Salvatore. Surviving are his son, Dominick of Readington, his two cherished daughers, JoAnne Santaguida and husband, Patsy of Bridgewater and Catherine Natale and husband, Anthony of Readington, eleven grandchildren, Anthony, Dominick, Kimberly, Rosanna, Teresa, Patty, Joanne, Michael, Joseph, Anthony and Kristina, 12 great-grandchildren , two sisters, Rachaella and Victoria Ciancio, both of Calabria, Italy, one brother, Giuseppe and wife, Franca Ciancio of Calabria, Italy and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will begin at 8:15 AM on Monday (December 29) at the Branchburg Funeral Home, 910 US Highway 202 South, Branchburg, NJ, 08876 (908) 526-7638 followed by a 9:00 AM Funeral Liturgy at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton R.C. Church, 105 Summer Road, Three Bridges. Entombment will follow at St. Bernard Cemetery & Mausoleum, Bridgewater.
