Obituary

Heaven has gained another Angel. Antoinette Muratore passed away peacefully in the comfort of her home on February 6, 2022, surrounded by her family, at the wonderful age of 93. Nettie was born on September 18, 1928, in Brooklyn, NY to the late Giacchino Firneno and Christina (nee DeSomma). She was the eldest daughter of eight children. Her family meant everything to her, especially her five sisters. On October 24, 1948, she married her childhood sweetheart Steve Muratore, a love that lasted for 72 years. They settled in Brooklyn and started a family of their own. In 1971, they were fortunate to purchase a summer home on Bertrand Island in Mt. Arlington, NJ which they eventually moved to in 1998. In 2017 they moved to Branchburg, NJ to be closer to their children. Their door was always open, and all were welcome. Nettie devoted much of her life to helping others. She worked in the office of Dr. Troisi, OB-GYN in Brooklyn for over 30 years. She was faithful and dedicated much time to her church and volunteered her time as a member of The Columbiettes (Our Lady of our Lake) and later the Rosary Altar Society (Holy Trinity). Nettie enjoyed spending time with family. She loved sharing a meal, talking, laughing, and reminiscing about the old times made her happy. Anyone that met her immediately knew that she was selfless, caring, loving and thoughtful. Every birthday and anniversary, you would be sure to find a card in the mailbox. If you ever needed a babysitter; she was always available. Nettie never missed a party. You could always count on her showing up with a tray of her delicious eggplant parmesan and rice pudding! She loved hosting family gatherings. Her family will always remember her delicious Christmas cookies, eating a spoonful of lentils on New Year Eves and the fireworks at the Lake on the 4th of July. Nettie enjoyed cooking, reading, baking with her grandchildren, and watching game shows. Her favorite station was the Hallmark channel. She will be remembered through her recipes which have been passed down from generation to generation and all the wonderful memories she left us all with. Although we are deeply saddened by her passing, we take comfort in knowing that Mom is reunited with her beloved husband Steve (2021), her parents Christina and Giacchino Firneno, and her two brothers, Louis and Michael Firneno. Her legacy will live on in the hearts of her children Jack Muratore (Linda), Diane Muratore (Jim Haggerty), Steven Muratore (Jenni), Lynne Panciello (Michael) and Richie Muratore (Angela); her eleven cherished grandchildren (Jack, Tara, Stephen, Joseph, Lauren, Sahra, Sofia, Leah, Hunter, Ryan, Parker); five loving great grandchildren (Grace, Jasper, Jane, Walter, Wesley) and five beautiful sisters, Jeanie Ciattarelli, Anna Cardinale, Barbara D'Ottavio, Carol Masiello, Christine Gewant (Garry) and many loving nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Friday, February 11, 2022, from 4-8pm at the Branchburg Funeral Home 910 Rt. 202 South Branchburg, NJ 08876. A prayer service will begin at the funeral home on Saturday, February 12, 2022, at 10:15am. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 am at Church of Holy Trinity 60 Maple St. Bridgewater, NJ. Committal services will be private for Nettie's family. Donations in her memory may be made to the good work of The Alzheimer's Association or Hunterdon Hospice in Flemington NJ. We will be forever grateful and fortunate to call her "ours".
