Anthony George "Tony" Staton, 87, of Branchburg, NJ, passed away on Saturday, September 5, 2026.

Tony was born on July 8, 1939, in Elizabeth, NJ, to the late Anthony and Dorothy Staton. He graduated from Clark High School before going on to earn his degree from Seton Hall University. He proudly served his country in the United States Army, stationed at Fort Dix.

On September 1, 1962, Tony married the love of his life, Judy Sue Staton, and the two went on to share a lifetime of love together. They made their home in Scotch Plains, NJ, before later settling in Branchburg. Much of Tony's life was centered on caring for and supporting Judy — including tenderly caring for her through her illness — and on loving his children and grandchildren without condition.

Professionally, Tony spent his career in accounts receivable outsourcing, working for Kidde, Creditek, and Smyyth, from which he retired in his early 80s.

Tony was an avid outdoorsman who loved fishing and hunting, and he was a lifelong, devoted fan of the New York Yankees. He and Judy delighted in shopping, antiquing, and discovering their favorite restaurants together. Known to his grandchildren simply as "Pop," Tony was beloved by all who knew him for his wonderful smile, his silly giggle, and his warm, gentle way. He was, above all, an always proud and supportive father and grandfather.

Tony was predeceased by his wife, Judy Sue Staton; his parents, Anthony and Dorothy Staton; and his younger sister, Dorothy, of Edison, NJ.

He is survived by his daughter, Jill Staton Long, and her husband Kevin Long, of Bridgewater, NJ, and their children Emily and Molly Long; and his son, Jeff Staton, and his wife Kim Whiting, of Tulsa, OK, and their children Eliza and Theo. He is also survived by his granddogs, Toby and Juno.

A memorial mass will take place on Saturday, September 19, 2026 at 12pm at Holy Trinity Church, 60 Maple Street, Bridgewater, NJ, 08807.
